❝The clock is ticking...❞

☣ Name ☣

Shire Durgandham

☣ Gang ☣

Yellow Jackets

☣ Rank ☣

Right Hand Man
(The whole thing was luck-based. He’s still not sure whether this means he’s lucky or unlucky. But then, the whole gang has little to no luck anyway so it doesn’t really matter.)

☣ Age ☣

19

☣ Sex ☣

Male

☣ Height and Weight ☣

176 cm / 5' 9 || 72 kg / 159 lbs

☣ Skills ☣

Marksmanship – He knows how to operate various firearms. Only reliable in short-mid range, though. As a sniper his accuracy is only decent at best. And no, 100% accuracy is something you only see in movies. It doesn’t exist.

First aid – Always has a first aid kit with him. At the very least he knows what to do when a comrade (or himself) is injured, and doesn’t mind blood or nasty wounds. Expect ugly scars, though, it’s functionality over appearance for him.

Basic combat – Nothing overly fancy or complicated, but he knows which parts of the body to attack and defend in fights and how to efficiently do so. Most comfortable fighting with knuckles
though he won't mind going bare hand.

☣ Stats ☣

ATK     ||        ★★

DEF     ||        ★★

INT      ||         ★★

HP       ||         ★★★

SPD     ||        ★

LUK     ||

[TOTAL = 12

☣ Weapons ☣

Gauntlets
Simple but effective. The gauntlets both strengthen his punches and help him block attacks.
[Design TBA]

Handgun
Old and somewhat fragile (treat with caution: don’t drop it; don’t block attacks with it; don’t try fancy tricks; use it to shoot instead of whacking people), but it does its work. A gift from a deceased comrade, he’s not getting rid of it anytime soon.

☣ Personality ☣

✔ Trustworthy || Punctual || Objective || Practical || Loyal ||

✘ Pessimistic || Skeptical || Insensitive || Impatient || Individualistic ||

Being a pessimist, Shire has the ability to find the bad side of almost everything. Being a skeptic, he questions almost everything. Not the prettiest combination. Be thankful he prefers keeping all the complaints and questions for himself. It’ll all come pouring out if provoked, though, it is best not to strike casual conversations with him. Especially considering his limited ability to read the mood.

He’s much more useful work-wise, responsible and hardworking by nature. Give him a task, high chance he’ll have it finished ahead of the deadline. Not one to be affected by feelings, objectivity is another strong trait of his. A no-nonsense sort of person, he usually keeps things neat, efficient, and the most important, working. Has low tolerance towards people who has no respect to time and those who has the habit to babble incessantly.

While he recognizes the importance of teamwork and isn’t against it, he prefers working alone whenever possible. Telling lies and truths apart proves to be a challenge for him, which is why it’s difficult for him to trust and work with people. Not to mention there are always unreliable humans who are bound to mess up things. Once someone managed to win his trust, though, he’ll be fiercely loyal to said person.

☣ Background Story ☣

Not-so-shortly before joining Kaleidoscope

It was only two weeks ago that Shire finished his military training. He was on his way back to Silverlight, along with a group of other recruits. His muscles were aching and he honestly felt like dying. But tiring as it was, it is a refreshing change from his dull everyday life. It also did wonders to his formerly nonexistent social life. You cannot survive 10 weeks of harsh training in the wilderness alone, after all.

“Look, the City is already in view!” One of his fellow trainees said, pointing at a small shape in the distance.

“Look, a neon pink puddle. They must’ve killed someone tainted here.” Shire pointed at a puddle their truck passed through. “Make sure we clean the tires later.”

“You’re ruining our happiness!” everyone exclaimed.

They took a break at sundown. Shortly after they realized that their water bottles were in the truck. At the very bottom, below everything else they brought. Who is the genius who took care of the packing? Thankfully Shire kept a spare water bottle in his bag. Someone took the bottle and drank, then passed it to another person while coughing.  It was unknown whether that cough was because he merely choked... or something else. Nobody noticed, though, and they shared that drink without any suspicion.

After the break all of them started to cough and sneeze. Training is supposed to make them stronger, not sick. What’s with this sudden mass cold spreading? They were indeed tired and their immune system must not be at its best, though...

However, it got worse. After a few hours some people started coughing blood, neon pink in color.

"N, No way..." Shire whispered to no one in particular, panic starting to build up. The Color-Syndrome… This was definitely it. They were taught about the disease during their training. The disease spread through fluids. He strongly suspected the neon pink puddle earlier. The truck went through it; the blood should somehow come in contact with someone—

THUD.

A loud sound snapped him out of his thoughts. In front of his very eyes he saw his comrades falling. Definitely the Color-Syndrome. Upon 2-3 hours of infection the victim will–

He could feel it. Fear started to creep into his conscience.

Pain stung his right knee and it buckled, refusing to support his body. Then the pain spread to his whole body, mostly at his upper arm and cheek.  Young adults won’t die from the disease, though, from what he had learned. None of them are that old, aren’t they? Even the eldest was still in his twenties...

He trembled; his body couldn't bear at it anymore. Added with all of the training he had for the last weeks, it was impossible to even sit up straight. Eventually, his vision went blurry, and he blacked out.

...

Heavily, Shire opened his eyes. “I’m… alive,” he mumbled. Around him several people had came to and were observing their newly acquired colors.

He looked at himself and found brown blotches tainting his skin. No trace of the pain he experienced mere moments ago. He stood up and joined the group of people who were up and aware, discussing about their next move while waiting for the others to wake up. They tried, at least, but everyone couldn’t stop worrying about those who hadn’t woken up.

After several hours they had to accept the fact that their comrades who were lying on the ground are dead. The disease killed almost half of the group. The oldest ones, he noticed. So with this disease infecting them, they won’t reach their thirties… That’s ten years at most for him, even less for the older trainees. Everyone else seemed too busy mourning to even notice that.

“We cannot go back to the City.” They were, once again, trying to discuss what to do. No much luck, everybody’s minds are clearly somewhere else.

“The Gray Order kills infected people,” Shire continued. “And we have to do something about this disease, unless you want to die in several years.” He was indeed sad, but the sadness didn’t shut him down like it did to everyone else. Looking at the crestfallen faces, he felt guilty. Do his friends matter that little to him? Even though the disease spread because of his actions, of all people… No, that’s exactly why he can’t let sadness take over. He’s responsible for this.

Survival comes first. Feelings can be sorted out later. “The Kaleidoscope… They are the only ones I know who’ll accept infected people.” He learned nothing good about the group from his training and general rumors around the City, but it seemed to be the only thing they can do for now… And he was determined to save his tainted comrades.

Shortly before joining Kaleidoscope

Determination alone wasn’t enough, though. Who was he fooling?

Security in the military is tight, they obviously cannot return as trainees. Not with their poorly hidden color. So they tried to sneak into the city, blending in with normal citizens. It worked— until someone accidentally bumped into one of them and a makeshift eyepatch got loose.

That someone happened to be a member of the Gray Order.

Things got messy soon after. More people from the Gray Order rushed in, weapons in hand. Shire was pushed away by strong hands towards the quickly dispersing crowd.

“We’ll take care of this. Run!”

He saw several other trainees running away in various directions. Most of them stayed behind, though, trying to hold off the Gray Order. It was too late to join them; he followed the instruction and ran.

That, later, turned out to be a very bad decision. There was no way for him to know at that time, though.

They had decided on the Kaleidoscope as their destination if something were to split them up. He realized that nobody had any idea where the gangs were located. He hadn’t, at least. It took him several days of scouring Silverlight to find Kaleidoscope’s recruiters.

[His meeting with Alpha and Beta can be found in his relation with Warren]

After joining Kaleidoscope

[CHAPTER 1]

He was chosen as the gang’s right hand man, a decision he wasn’t sure was very well thought out (again, the whole thing was luck based). Nothing he could do about it, though.

Another big event was the appearance of Kaleidoscope’s founder. She’s strangely colorful and very… ambitious. Apparently their enemy wasn’t just the Gray Order, it’s the whole world. He heard nothing about that before; their chances of defeating the Gray Order are low enough thank you very much. The whole business is indeed shady, now that he thought about it... But he’s infected, what other choice does he have?

He’s still waiting for the other trainees, though the chances that they’re still alive are pretty low. It’s been almost three months, after all, and he hasn’t seen any familiar face in Kaleidoscope. Went to Silverlight and searched every once in a while, but no results so far. He’s searching still, though. Can’t back down just like that.

☣ Trivia ☣

► His right cheek, left arm, and right knee are tainted.

► His birthday is on August 31

► A watch is always around his left wrist, he never takes it off. Color had bled into it even though the watch is nowhere near his color stain.

► Has all sorts of useful (and not so useful) things inside his bag. It’s so heavy he can slam it on someone’s face and cause a decent damage.

► An early bird, he wakes up early and sleeps early. Can often be found wandering around the base early in the morning (4-5 AM).

► Responsible for their 'food' in Monday (cooked by Azura herself), hence his dislike.

► Voice: Chomaiyo

☣ Relationships ☣

:bulletyellow: Kin
"Alright." *thumbs up*
Yellow Jacket's leader. Highly respects Kin despite the leader being a cosplay freak in his opinion. A sadistic one who happens to have superhuman strength. Both of them aren't exactly talkative, thus the lack of conversation between them. They get along just fine, though.

:bulletyellow: Warren
"It's just a rumor and from what I know they're up to no good. So don't expect too much... But at least we'll be safe there."

[Finding Alpha and Beta]

Meeting another infected person was completely unexpected. When Shire told him the whole story (along with what he knew the Kaleidoscope), though, the stranger agreed  to join him search for the organization. They went everywhere they could without getting spotted by the Gray Order, but found nothing. No HQ, no recruiter, not even a member they can tail, nor any clue to follow. They were about to give up when they saw two girls, clearly tainted with pink and blue. Are they...?

:bulletpurple: Faux
"She's always watching..."
Their first meeting was nothing more than "You're an Elusive Indigo member, aren't you," and "You're Yellow Jackets' right hand man, no?" They ran into each other several times after that, Shire always trying to get him out of his lazy, procrastinating ways. Their way of thinking matches somehow, they get along pretty well.

"He's a traitor. Traitors deserve to die."
To think that he once trusted the Elusive Indigo. He's still as bad as ever in judging people, it seems.

:bulletblue: Mozzarella
"Yes, our food is indeed... interesting."
Warren's childhood friend, they met when Mozzarella was visiting YJ's base. Finding someone who's interested in his gang's daily menu was pretty... surprising.

:bulletblue: Sky
"Chess's sister?"
Chess is very protective of her, better keep his distance.

:bulletgreen: Chess
"How did we get close, again?"
He knows the green tainted man via Faux. Has no idea how, but they're on pretty good terms. Sparred every once in a while though Chess' fighting style (namely, his dodging ability) annoys him. He's planning to thank him for killing the traitor the next time they meet.
